This position is a short term non-partisan position with the Legislative Services Division.
Duties: Collates and distributes Legislative proceedings to state offices, lobbyists, and the general public, working with the public on a daily basis. Mails out copies of bills, files bills for storage, answers phone, assists with mailings. Runs copy machine. Delivers bills and other printed material to the House and Senate.
This position may begin in late December or early January, and continue through the term of the 69th legislative session (end of April or early May). This position will generally be for 6 - 8 hours a day, 6 days a week; although 40 hours a week is not guaranteed. Saturday work may be required. In general, hours will vary daily within the time frame of 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., depending on the workload. Must be able to have the flexibility to adjust their work schedule with little to no advance notice.This position could terminate prior to the end of the session. Some overtime could occur during peak periods. Hours worked over 40 hours in a week will be compensated at time-and-a-half.
Must have the ability to follow written and oral instructions and work under heavy deadline pressure. Must be reliable, punctual, and productive members of the team. Must be able to maintain composure and work cooperatively under pressure with co-workers, the general public, and other Legislative staff. Must be physically able to stand on your feet for long periods of time, to carry and lift up to 50 pounds and to push a cart full of bills. Some knowledge of the Legislative process is helpful. Needs basic computer literacy or ability to learn.
