Competencies:
General knowledge of state government and the legislative process; prior knowledge of Montana government and legislative process preferred; and good knowledge of telephone procedures.
Skill in the use of the telephone and computer keyboard.
Ability to: answer the telephone using appropriate etiquette; interact with the public in an extremely courteous manner: input telephone messages with speed and accuracy; learn to use computerized systems to record and find information; learn to use various information aids and choose among them for an appropriate source for answering questions; speak and write standard English fluently; maintain neutrality; and remain calm and function under pressure and occasional inappropriate verbal abuse from the public.
Education/Experience:
The minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required for entry at this position are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school, with education or experience in government, public speaking, reception, and keyboarding preferred.
